The New York Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones agreed to a four-year, $160 million deal with upwards of $35 million in incentives on Tuesday.
The deal makes Jones one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL and just the ninth quarterback in NFL history with an AAV of $40m million or more.
Understandably, Twitter erupted following the news — both positive and negative.
Here’s a look at how Jones’ teammates, fans, and other celebrities, analysts, and experts reacted to the new deal.

Saquon Barkley, a better football player than Daniel Jones, is now checking in with a salary $30 million less than the QB’s. …It’s a tough, tough world that running backs are living in. https://t.co/774sb2JDTC

Giants just spent $140M on Daniel Jones so I don’t really feel bad about spending $300 on legos

Daniel Jones went from nearly outa the league to 160 million dollars
I respect it

You know, I like Daniel Jones more than most do, and I know that the Giants probably didn’t have another plan at QB if they let him go
But paying him elite-level money is way too much for me. Jones better be an MVP caliber QB in a couple years with that contract

It was kinda bizarre to see how gradually the leverage switched from the Giants to Daniel Jones and his agents. HUGE win for them getting an AAV of $40M. Need to see the full guarantees but everything Joe Schoen has undergone these last two years has truly been trial by fire.

As a Giants fan, I like how today played out. Things were heading in the right direction for Jones & Saquon under Daboll and pumped we get to see it again next year

We live in a world where Daniel Jones’ current salary is higher than Lamar Jackson’s.
