The New York Giants, like most sports franchises around the world, are rapidly gaining in value.
In Forbes Magazine’s latest list of NFL team values, the Giants are up 24 percent from last year and are currently valued at $6 billion.
They are ranked fourth overall behind the Dallas Cowboys ($8 billion), the New England Patriots ($6.4 billion), and the Los Angeles Rams ($6.2 billion).
Each NFL franchise is now worth at least $3 billion. The main reason is the massive revenue growth ($31 percent) the league has seen over the past five years. That, along with the side deals each franchise can muster, as outlined by Forbes:
Although the NFL’s 32 teams equally share a little over 70% of football-related revenue, the rising tide of multiples does not mean all boats are lifted equally. Teams that can leverage their brands and stadiums to increase luxury suite, sponsorship, hospitality and non-NFL-event revenue the most will typically be worth more.
The Giants half-own MetLife Stadium with the Jets. The venue is 100 percent financed by private funding such as NFL G-3/G-4 loans. Additionally, MetLife is paying $17-20 million annually in naming rights fees which extends to 2035.
